BUILD AND RELEASE ENGINEER

Project description Large hedge fund is a private institutional investment management complex consisting of an international team of researchers and technologists who constantly work toward ever-greater quantification and automation in the development of processes.
Responsibilities -twork closely with a global team of engineers to support, enhance, and expand company-wide developer tooling and build and deployment systems and infrastructuren-tcollaborate with engineering and research teams to improve developer build and deployment experiencen-tassume ownership and ensure reliability of existing and new build and release pipelinesn-tassist with package and release software requested by usersn-twork with users and the team to troubleshoot and address issues for a variety of software; debug and resolve library dependency, build systems and deployment issues for Python, C++, and Java codebasesn-tdevelop and ensure quality of documentation and build tools to facilitate user experiencen-tcreate proprietary solutions to increase stability and scalability of the build, test and deploy portions of the firm's SDLC processes SKILLS Must have -tExcellent verbal and written communication skills in English languagen-tExcellent interpersonal and organizational skills, approachable personalityn-tGood analytical skills and passion for solving problems in pragmatic ways with a sense of urgencyn-tExperience with build systems, software packaging and package managersn-tExperience with software build automation systems, experience with Nix (nixpkgs, NixOS) is a big plusn-tProficiency in Linux (shell tools, bash, understanding of file systems and networking)n-tProficiency in Python, able to write clean code and tests, able to debug coden-tExperience debugging build systems.
