Automation Engineering Manager located in Tijuana, Mexico.

Director of Engineering the Sr.
Automation Engineering Manager role involves… What a typical day looks like.
The Sr.
Automation Engineering Manager will take leadership during the entire life cycle of automation projects, from concept to feasibility and from fabrication and test to production.
Develop budget and schedule for projects and manage projects to stay within them.
Able to quickly cost analyze and work up the financial justification for automating.
Responsible for specifying, designing, installing, and maintaining automation equipment, tooling and applications as required to meet specifications.

Define, develop, and deploy automation into Flex sites.
Design the layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency and safety.
Design and engineer moderate and complex automation equipment, tooling, and applications Prepare RFQ's and solicit quotations from automation suppliers.
Evaluate supplier quotations to determine the best combination of technical solution, cost, and timing.
% Business Travel Customer support medical sites for product introduction and ramp up support Conduct equipment design reviews and provide design guidance to suppliers.
Ability to present information to top management.
Manage automation suppliers through all phases of projects.
Provide on-site support during machine build, debug, and testing/qualification.
Supervise installation and testing to verify requirements and specifications are met.
Draft qualification protocols and support equipment qualification activities.
Develop manufacturing solutions with the best combination of manual, semi-automation and/or full automation.
Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow.
Implement cost effective automation solution.
Support new product development automation needs, facilitate assembly processes through the implementation of assembly cells and automated equipment at NPI stage and ensure meeting development timeline.
Interface with customers and functional owners on product development issues regarding automation.
Conduct design-for-automation analysis and provide detailed recommendations.
Participate in design reviews and provide status reports as per established schedule.
Prepare and maintain documentation related to the operation of the automation equipment.
Impacts the long-term (annual) direction and financial or operational success of the function and/or site.
Approves and/or creates functional processes or technologies.
Establishes and ensures effective achievement of functional strategic plans and objectives for the site.
Develops plans for structuring and implementing major initiatives.
Define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Here is some of what you will need (required)… Master's or MBA degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Experience in Automation and Manufacturing engineering, including broad based project management and supervision Expert functional, technical and people and/or process management skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills.
Demonstrates detailed expertise in very complex functional/technical area or broad breadth of knowledge in multiple areas; understands the strategic impact of the function across sites.
Preferred skills.
Six Sigma/Lean BB expertise with experience performing CpK and G&RR on complex custom Automation and Test equip Controls Eng and MES integration into high mix automation lines – experience with multiple Automation integrators and suppliers Industrial Engineering expertise for theory of constraints, line designProject Management across Org ISO experience and IQ, OQ, PQ validation process hands on knowledge High mix and High Complexity, Low and High Volume, Electronics Manufacturing expertise What you'll receive for the great work you provide.
