EXTRUSION UTILITY OPERATOR

Reporting directly to the Production Supervisor, the incumbent must be effective in assisting the supervisor and shift  lead in directing, trouble-shooting, and coordinating all production activities in the vinyl siding plant to optimize production with consistent high quality, in a safe and clean working environment.
One of the main responsibilities of an Extrusion Utility Operator is assisting employees on the shift, trouble-shooting machines and product, as well as quality related issues.
The extrusion utility operator assists manufacturing facilities with process problems and facilitates operator training.
Works with shift lead  on shift supporting operational issues across the entire plant when needed promoting teamwork and working collectively to maximize production efficiencies.
Motivating and training employees to achieve above standards of excellence in areas of quality, productivity, safety, labor utilization, and team skills.
Ensure tooling, fixtures, and all necessary equipment are in place for daily line changes, and verify that lines are adequately staffed.
Coordinates product change activities, improves tooling change times.
Prepares daily reports so that accurate production quality and inventories can be maintained.
Extrusion utility operator interfaces with all support groups within the manufacturing environment, such as Maintenance, Tooling, Blending, and Shipping Departments.
Extrusion utility operator must have a high degree of mechanical and product skills, and knowledge to be able to trouble-shoot and train hourly personnel.
Troubleshoot extrusion line, process problems, and ensure that operating policies and procedures are being followed.

Standard plant safety rules, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and Bump caps.
