The successful candidate for this position will be a contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following.

CONTRACT POSITION TITLE.
Contemporary Worship Leader (Director and Musician) 1.
General Scope of Responsibilities.
Serves as director and musical accompaniment for regularly scheduled services and specified special services.
Music Director shall ensure that all musical selections are appropriate for the specific type of worship service and Christian seasonal music selections.
Musical selections should be coordinated with the Contemporary Worship Service Chaplain and/or the JBER Senior Protestant Chaplain for guidance.
Communicate to ensure that musical selections and instruments support the intent and style of the worship service.

Specific Responsibilities.
Music Director shall provide services in coordination with the chaplain in charge of the service, to include special services/events or seasonal observances.
Music Director shall ensure that all musical selections are appropriate for the contemporary style of worship service and Christian season.

The Music Director shall provide Music Director and Musician support for weekly choir/worship team rehearsals as required.
Musical selections shall be discussed with the Contemporary Worship Service Chaplain and/or the JBER Senior Protestant Chaplain.
Music Director shall ensure that musical selections and instrumentation are suited to the venue.
Music Director shall coordinate, plan, and prepare worship slides (Power Point, ProPresenter or other medium) for worship services.
Music Director shall communicate with the Contemporary Worship Service Chaplain and/or the JBER Senior Protestant Chaplain in preparation of slides to ensure the slides correspond with the worship service.
Slides must include the song title, writer credit(s), copyright notice, and the chapel’s Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) number.
Music Director shall have the ability to provide professional PowerPoint (or other medium) slides including the words to the worship songs for all worship services.
Coordinate with the worship team to adjust the tempo, style of worship and/or choir accompaniment to enhance the congregation's ability to participate in worship.
Music Director leads rehearsals in coordination with the Contemporary Worship Service Musicians or Worship Service Chaplain and person in charge of scheduling chapel facilities.
Music Director shall bear any financial responsibility for the purchase of music, except for music funded by the Chaplain Tithes and Offering Fund.
Music Director/subMusic Directors shall be ready to perform no later than 20 minutes prior to the designated starting time of any service, and 30 minutes prior to a special service.
The Music Director shall not leave until the service has ended.
Music Director/subMusic Directors shall ensure that all equipment is removed and stored in its designated storage location at the end of the service.
Music Director shall maintain a professional decorum and ensure that contract musicians providing services conduct themselves in a professional manner.
Music Director/subMusic Directors providing music services shall present a neat and well- groomed appearance appropriate to the conditions under which the services are being conducted.
Civilian attire shall be in good taste and semi-formal in nature for a worship service.
Business casual (no jeans or T-shirts) for other special events.
Footwear must be worn at all times.
Exceptions can be made in coordination with the Contemporary Worship Service Chaplain No contract musician reporting for duty who appears recently to have consumed alcohol or taken illegal drugs shall be allowed to perform.
Music Director/subMusic Directors shall avoid representing or allowing themselves to be represented as Chapel Staff or government employees.
Music Director will not attend any staff meetings.
Notify the Senior Protestant Chaplain, Facility Manager or designee concerning any maintenance problems or requests concerning the instrument(s) and of the chapel facility.
Music Director/subMusic Director shall provide support for weekly choir/worship team rehearsals as required.

If the Music Director authorized to identify subMusic Directors provides a substitution, the individual must meet minimum requirements below.
Contracted person(s) shall ensure any substitutions of personnel have met the education and/or experience qualifications of replaced individual.
A résumé of all substitutions will be submitted to contracting office and kept within contracting file.
All substitutions are subject to a background check per section two of the Statement of Work.
Any cancellations on behalf of contracted personnel that are not fulfilled with a qualified individual will not be compensated.
All substitutions must be approved in writing by the contracting officer five (5) business days before event.
Permanent changes of personnel require that replacement personnel meet the complete qualifications of the Statement of Work which includes the interview process.
All permanent changes to personnel must be approved in writing by the contracting officer thirty (30) calendar days before start date of new personnel.
Ability to administer both the documentation of services performed and the timely rendering of payment for subMusic Director services (if used) is required.
Payment for funerals, memorials and other observances shall base on the “Special Service/Special Rehearsal” rate as defined in the contract.
Section 2.
QUALIFICATIONS 2.

A degree in the field of music from an accredited institution is preferred.
(A minimum of four years of experience in a Protestant worship music program may be substituted.) 2.

Knowledge of Protestant Liturgy and Contemporary Christian music is required.
The ability to lead worship while playing an instrument conducive to leading worship and the ability to evaluate any sub Music Director’s competence/performance in these areas is required.
The ability to sing and play either/or the piano or acoustic guitar.

Ability to coordinate all music activities of the Contemporary Worship Service is required.

A résumé shall be included with bid submissions and an interview/demonstration of qualifications may be required.

Previous experience in a Protestant military chapel setting is preferred.

Interview Requirements.
Interviews will be conducted after request for quote closure date.
Interviews will be conducted by the Senior Protestant Chaplain and/or members of the JBER Chapel Staff to evaluate interview performance.
A contracting officer or specialist will be present throughout all interviews.

Interviews will consist of dialogue, reading sheet music and a musical demonstration.
Music and instrument for demonstration will be provided by the chapel.

Additional musical selections may be brought for demonstration during the interview; however this is not required, nor will it be considered criteria for evaluation.

This is a part-time position with compensation based on budget and the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications.
