Village Capital is looking for a Communications Associate to join Village Capital's Communications team to ensure the completion of communications deliverables for Village Capital accelerator programs in Latin America and the United States. The Associate will also support broader creative, storytelling, branding, and thought leadership projects in these regions, focusing on the following thematic areas: Climate Innovation & Adaptation, Economic Mobility, and Equitable Access to Essential Services.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Global Communications & Branding Lead, the Communications Associate will be a key player of the Communications team and will have the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Work with the Latin America and the United States program teams to implement strategic communications plans and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to create day-to-day collateral at key moments of each program, including webpages, press releases, social media content, and video scripts.
  • Coordinate with Village Capital independent contractors, including graphic designers, web developers, videographers, and copywriters, to execute on communications deliverables.
  • Research and support development of communications including but not limited to thought-leadership pieces that promote Village Capital's track record of supporting entrepreneurs through its programs; ecosystem and global initiatives; its regional presence and impact, and all other collateral to support fundraising efforts.
  • Maintain VilCap's global library of stories of startups from each program, focusing on their innovations, progress in the program, and unique story.
  • Coordinate speaking opportunities and draft pitch materials and talking points.
  • Support the team in ensuring branding compliance across materials and expand Village Capital's presence in Latin America and the United States.
  • Continuously track news around our core thematic areas and journalists covering these topics to be shared with the Global Communications & Branding Lead in order to secure high-level earned media hits and support with regular outreach to journalists.
  • Support tracking of global communications metrics, including media hits, mentions, and other relevant results to demonstrate our reach and impact.
  • Act as a first point of contact for our internal (Village Capital) team and support the process of addressing team requests in a timely manner.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or other relevant field.
  • Fluency in business English and Spanish.
  • 1 to 3 years of applicable communications or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience and interest in writing for a variety of purposes, including online news pieces, press releases, longer-form debate-shaping pieces, short-form tweets, social media and web copy, blog posts, etc.
  • Strong and empathetic oral communication, relationship building, and networking skills.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, ability to learn a topic quickly and synthesize its main points in a compelling way.
  • Outstanding writing skills; Strong command of tone, logic, and argument structure.
  • Creative thinker with a keen eye for metaphor and symbol; ability to communicate ideas in a unique and compelling way.

Note: While our budget for this role is between $515,000 - $600,000 MXN annually, the remuneration will be commensurate with experience.
